2005-2009
The Sports Years
Streaming a variety of live sports events
In the fall of 2004 INSINC delivered its first ever pay-per-view event: UBC Thunderbird’s Varsity Baseball. Little did the company realize at the time that its future would be redefined as a result.
By the spring of 2005 the company onboarded two major junior hockey leagues. A year later the Canadian Football League International service was launched, along with some soccer events followed by more junior hockey leagues in 2008. The common thread across all of these implementations was the incorporation of pay-per-view and subscriptions.
During this period INSINC continued also to stream a wide range of entertainment and enterprise content. Customers included the CHL, Hockey Canada, Woodbine Entertainment Group, Canadian Press, CTV Newsnet, CHUM, Vision TV, the Ontario Hockey League, the Western Hockey League, TVG Networks, the Weather Network, Canadian Idol, BCHL, KIJHL, Vancouver Canadians Baseball, GOLTV, Rogers Sportsnet, the Canadian Soccer Association, and ROBTv.
The company was sold in 2009 to NeuLion and all of the sports properties were methodically migrated over to the NeuLion platform. Many of the entertainment and all of the government customers continued to operate on the legacy INSINC platform.
In 2018, NeuLion was acquired by Endeavor (formerly IMG-WME) one of the largest global sports, events and talent management companies in the world, and was rebranded Endeavor Streaming.
